A cataclysm,
remembered as fire.

"They called it the Mahapralaya — a night of betrayal which ends it all."
Story Visual

Twenty years ago, the mighty kingdom of Medang was annihilated in a single night of fire and chaos. Few survived, among them Airlangga, who went on to found Kahuripan. Yet whispers speak of the old curse stirring once more.

Now, as dark forces move in the shadows, Airlangga entrusts his daughter Sanggramawijaya with a perilous mission: travel to the ruins of Medang and secure the ancient seal before it is broken. What awaits her is not only the desolation of a lost kingdom. The dark tale of Gogor, haunting the future with its the monstrous remnant of Mahapralaya.

Gogor is a curse embodied. It only unleash disaster. Sanggra must confront dark forces, but lurking behind is the vengeful sorceress Calonarang and her generals. Trying to ignite a second Mahapralaya.

A history that
was never finished.

GOGOR is rooted in real Javanese history. The temple-building dynasties of Central Java, the catastrophic fall of Medang, and the rise of Kahuripan under Airlangga. The webtoon picks up where the chronicles fall silent between the history told.

8–9th c.

Syailendra & Sanjaya

Buddhist and Hindu dynasties alternate in Central Java. The age of Borobudur and Prambanan. Temple-building, cosmic order, dual religious-political balance.

10–11th c.

Medang / Mataram Kuno

Power shifts east to Java Timur under Mpu Sindok and Dharmawangsa. Ends in Mahapralaya Medang. The total destruction of the capital in a single night, c. 1016 AD.

12–14th c.

Janggala · Kediri · Singhasari · Majapahit

The line Airlangga preserved becomes the spine of every kingdom that follows. Medang's fall becomes legend, and Airlangga, a half-myth.

What this story is about.

01

Bloodlines & Inheritance

What a daughter inherits from a father's silence. What a kingdom inherits from a kingdom that fell. The cost of carrying someone else's history.

02

Betrayal & Redemption

The collapse of kingdoms comes not only from demons, but from within. Whether the betrayed can be saved, and whether the betrayer deserves to be.

03

The Beast Within

To tame the beast is to forgive it; to seal it again is to repeat the wound. Sanggra must walk that line.

Why GOGOR.

Why GOGOR Visual
"

The dream of GOGOR is a childhood dream for my own Javanese-rooted, tokusatsu-inflected saga. There will be more to comes, but i hope this webtoon project could be the small steps to start everything. The full webtoon arrives later this year. Thank you for reading Gogor, and, i hope, you are as excited as me to see where it goes.
